The unique beauty of the Hortobágy wilderness, its richness of colours and phenomena, has long inspired writers, poets and artists. The uniqueness of the pastoral and animal life of the Hortobágy is unrivalled worldwide and is now recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site by the Hortobágy National Park.

The Pusztai Zoo, founded in 1997 by the Hortobágy Nature Protection and Gene Preservation Non-profit Ltd, aims to present and preserve the Hungarian indigenous animal species.

Visitors can get close to traditional Hungarian animals such as the Transylvanian bald-necked hen, Parlagi goat, racka, mangalica, hucul horse and Hungarian grey cattle and contribute to their survival. Children can also meet sheep, goat goats and donkeys in the park's petting zoo, and there are also cooking in the campfire and cart pulling.

Events such as the National Goulash Competition and the Hungarian Grey Bulls Fair, as well as various adventure days, are all very popular.

With a new playground and craft activities, the Pusztai Zoo is an excellent destination for school trips, group visits and team-building training, promising fun for all ages.
